Lesson: Humility

Philippians 2:5-11 NLT

You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.

Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to.
Instead, he gave up his divine privileges he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being.
When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.

Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

-humility is lowering yourself and doing the will of God, acting like Jesus
-we can’t let those outside of the body see strife within the body – work things out for the glory of God
-unity and self-denial are essential to Christian existence - in what ways have you been guided by personal interest, instead of by Christ? – what you’re doing is a testimony or witness that can affect somebody else – draw people, don’t make them go away from Christ – be like-minded and on one accord in the body
-support the work of the church Gods way – do good for others, regardless of the cost to yourself – deny you that God’s purpose is satisfied
-focus on Christ – what are do you struggle in to think like Christ
-your level of humility leads to your level of HumblePieexaltation

The surest way up is by stepping down, to gain is by giving..
